Dhruvajyoti Banerjee: Village Panchayats in areas adjacent to cities. But his appearance is similar to the city life. Urban Development Department said that ‘Semi Urban’ or new urban planning policy is being introduced to provide better services in that area as well. Firhad Hakim, Minister of Public Works and Urban Development, said this in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Town next to the city. Panchayat area next to it. But with the changing quality of urban life, in many cases, bridges, roads, high-rise buildings are being built one after another. Looking at the appearance, it is not clear whether it is a municipal area or a Panchayet area. However, the system of sewage or garbage disposal in Gram Panchayat area is not like that of real urban areas. Kandi Member of Parliament (MLA) Apurba Sarkar raised a question about this big problem of urbanization in the assembly today. Minister Firhad Hakim told about this new city plan in response to the question about which area it has happened. What the minister referred to as ‘semi-urban’ policy.

In reference to the discussion in the Assembly, the Minister of Public Works and Urban Development said, “There are many places adjacent to the public areas of cities or villages which are under the purview of panchayats. But even there the impression of city-like urbanization is evident. Settlements are being built one after another. But in that proportion proper drainage system or waste management could not be created. If this continues, the environment of those regions will become terrible in the coming days. So we want to bring a special policy subject to discussion with the Panchayat Department.
Once this policy proposed by Firhad Hakim is made, there will be no hindrance to provide services in those panchayat areas adjacent to the city as in modern cities. The minister said that this step is possible only with the help of that special ‘Semi Urban Land Use Policy’. KMDA has already been asked to take action in this regard. He said that the notification has also been issued.
